Bug Fix Release: ReloadEvery 3.6.2 Firefox Addon

I just released ReloadEvery 3.6.2. It’s a bugfix release. 3.6.1 did not work for many people using a locale other than English. This because I didn’t add the new string “Randomize” to all locales. Now I did with a bit of help of Google Translate. So I hope the translations are OK but at least the extension is working.

Actually I don’t like this behavior at all. This means every time I add a string somewhere I need to update all my locale files manually to add the new string. I support 13 locales at the moment but that could be potentially 100 if I’d receive many contributions. If the addon doesn’t find a certain string in a locale it should just take the English string.

Regarding the “tip”: did you write that, or has your site been hacked?

    Sorry Jaap,

I install you add-on on my FF, but don’t work for the page I wont.

Now I have a problem. I uninstall it but, when right-click on a page the Reload options still there.

I’m using FF 3.5.5 in PORTUGUESE.

Sorry to disturb, can you send some tip’s ???

    Tanks,
    LoboMau

Reload is always there. It’s a feature of Firefox. Reload Every is gone after you deinstall the plugin

      • LoboMau says:

        Sorry Jaap,

I’m not referring to the reload option.

I’m referring to the option Reload Every that shows a child menu with many options.

In my case the option is “Recarregar a Cada” my FF is in PORTUGUESE.

Can I remove it manually ?

        Tanks,
        Lobo Mau

        • Jaap says:

Probably your firefox deinstallation did not work. It should have removed all files. You can remove it manually in your firefox profile directory

  3. Ivan says:

Is there also an unsecure version of this reload addon where you dont have to confirm everytime.

So when you activate it once it goes on and on without disruption?

    Regards Ivan

    • Jaap says:

You don’t have to confirm every time. What’s the site you are using?

      • Ivan says:

It s a game site where i have to attact people all the time.

I get this Popup warning that tells me: Translated in English

        Warning!!!!
De page on wich you reloadevery want to turn on contains POSTDATA.
If you reloadevery start this action that will be performed by this form will reload everytime!!!

Are you shure to start ReloadEvery?

        Jes No

        • Jaap says:

That’s on purpose for pages with POSTDATA. Firefox also warns for this when you reload because if you are on an e-commerce site you might buy an item multiple times because of a reload.

If you say yes reloadevery will just start and not ask you the question anymore

    Hi,

Just downloaded the latest version on my firefox 3.6 beta 5

Nothing showed up and it just doesn’t work at all. Would you mind taking a look on it?

    Many thanks

I use more than 4 dictionaries. So I change the source code from 4 to 8 in every version.

Is it possible for you, to change your code??

This is why I feel that the Mozilla l10n platform is entirely broken – because it makes it too easy to break things. We translate all the Mozilla applications using moz2po which basically hides the Mozilla brokenness and give translation files instead of the mix of dtd/properties/ini/inc/it/html formats. Gettext is designed in a way that you can’t break things by adding a string. The worst that can happen is that it is untranslated.

That is also my recommendation – leave it untranslated (in English) rather than using Google Translate. You have no idea what you get with Google Translate. Of course, then translators later have no idea which parts they need to translate, but that is an inherent problem with monolingual formats. There is a writeup about some of these issues here:

3.6.2 works, but not if you click “for all tabs”; its only for one Tab!:(

    Comment:
It’s greyed out because there are no options.

If there are no options, how do you tell it that you want it to retry the page? Or how do you tell it you DON’T want it to retry? And how do you tell it how often to retry? I couldn’t find any controls. This is potentially a very useful tool, but you might want to take another look at your user interface. Obviously I did not find it intuitive. Thanks.

Right click on a page and select the reloadevery item or use the dropdown buttton next to the reload button on the toolbar

      • Sed says:

Also I would like to know how to ‘disable’ reload for a webpage. Do not see a DISABLE, see an ENABLE … not sure what that is for … any hints … THANKS

I have found a bug. The extension stops working when there is a # in the address. I use Book text mark and that adds a # in the address to allow returning to the same spot in a page.

  10. Howard Tsztoo says:

I installed version 3.6.2 on FF 3.5.7 and there is no reload every in the right mouse click menu. When I check the Tools>Add-ons it has been installed but nothing is there.
    This is in Windows 7.
Let me know if you can determine what is causing this.

Is there a way to make it enabled automatically when I launch FireFox or do I have to enable it every time I start FireFox?

  12. EllBarr says:
