GNOME Amazon Referral Fees April 2010

gnome-amazon In April 2010 the GNOME Foundation received the following Amazon referral fees

Amazon.com
$58.27
Amazon.ca $1.77
Amazon.de €104.62
Amazon.fr €2.71
Amazon.co.uk £23.44
Amazon.jp ¥4534

This totals to approximately $280 (down from $375 in February), but the positive thing is that we finally get some significant sales in Japan

Keep on spreading the plugins to friends and family

Below and in the GNOME Amazon Store you find the links to install the GNOME Amazon Search Plugin of your favorite Amazon store. NOTE the links below might not work if you read this post in an RSS reader, because it needs a javascript command to install the search plugin. Just install the search plugin by going to this post directly.

    Amazon.co.jp Search Plugin for firefox does not work when searching with japanese (double byte) character.

    Then, I compare the URL generated by default amazon.co.jp search plugin for firefox (on windows XP) and found one missing parameter, “__mk_ja_JP=%E3%82%AB%E3%82%BF%E3%82%AB%E3%83%8A”

    Actual change like this:

    After adding this parameter to amazoncojp-gnome.xml (located in my profile directory), searching with japanese characters works fine!

    So, Could you update plugins for amazon.co.jp?

    Now I download latest plugin from avobe link and that works fine!
    Thaks Jaap.

    But I found another small problem.
    The icon is not shown in dorp down list of search plugins.

    Strings in xml (image/x-icon) seems different than older plugin.
    (May be I made someting wrong…)

    Latest plug in now available for download on avobe link, but there is a problem the drop down menu not contains the icon.
