In July 2010 the GNOME Foundation received the following Amazon referral fees
| Amazon.com |
$55.90
|
| Amazon.ca | $1.16 |
| Amazon.de | €60.96 |
| Amazon.fr | €16.30 |
| Amazon.co.uk | £31.73 |
| Amazon.jp | ¥1,936 |
This totals to approximately $231 (up from $186 in June). Compared to other months we see that finally some GNOMEys in France are buying stuff at Amazon. Let’s see if this month we finally get some significant referral fees from the Canadian store

Perhaps instructions for Chrome/Chromium could be added. Also is there a way to make Amazon automatically remember to add the referral link, I often go directly to the co.uk store and forget to add it. That means cancelling the order and going back through the GNOME page and reordering.
Out of personal curiousity I would also love to hear how much of the referrals are from Banshee’s Amazon support which I understand is now adding to this pot.
Hi David,
I’ll add chrome/chromium instructions for next month. I’ve always looked at the totals of the different referral tags that GNOME has with amazon, but I checked the banshee one. Did you just introduce it? Up till 31st of July I only see $1.50. Now for just 2 days in August it’s already $15. So that looks promising.
Jaap
The Banshee work is only in the development version and it didn’t start using the referral tag till after GUADEC. So I doubt the numbers will be interesting till next month, or even till 1.8 is released (on schedule with the next GNOME stable release).
$15 for days in a development version is not bad
We just have to make sure that distros don’t replace it with their affiliate tag. I know ubuntu does this with firefox for instance
Another $12 dollar commision today for banshee downloads
Next months full count is going to be very interesting, I really hope the GNOME Foundation puts the money to good use, say like organizing a Mono+GNOME hackfest
And that turns out to be only from the US sales, we only realised that we needed additional affliate codes for each region and that was just commited. This will hit an active development release Sept. 1st. and is in git now.
